HARVEST DINNERS
FARM TO TABLE AT ITS BEST
Our Harvest Dinners are intimate, plant-based culinary experiences that showcase the fresh, flavorful produce we grow at Springhouse Farm. Meet folks and enjoy good conversationwhile savoring the bounty of the season surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains!
Every year we put a little spin on our dinners, and in 2026 we are introducing the Springhouse Storyteller Series where we will explore the history of our area. Dr Alice Wright, a professor of Archaeology at ASU, will be the guest speaker at our dinner in July. She will speak about the first people who inhabited this area, Native Americans whose arrowheads we find on the farm. Stephen Suddreth, author of A History of the Blowing Rock Area 1400-1900, will discuss the early settlers in the Watauga area at our dinner in August.
About our speakers:
Dr. Alice Wright: “Alice Wright is an archaeologist who studies the deep history of southern Appalachia. Using the material traces left behind by ancient people and informed by enduring Indigenous knowledge and traditions, she explores how Native people shaped and were shaped by the landscape of northwestern North Carolina in the centuries before European settlement. A member of the Department Anthropology at Appalachian State, Alice is an enthusiastic educator at and beyond the university, committed to helping folks learn about, celebrate, and protect local archaeological sites and heritage. When she's not working at a site or teaching on campus, she is hiking across the High Country or tending her vegetable garden in Boone, where she lives with her husband, sons, cats, and chickens”.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Watauga County Historical Society.
